Brief descriptionAccompanying material for an introduction to working with the "golden pearl material"; Additions without changing categories and with changes; Some exercises for "bank game"; Form for "inventing" your own invoices as a template;
manualRecommended school level (s):  1st - 2nd grade
Manufacturing: All sheets should be laminated (recommended film thickness: 90-125 microns).
 First cut off the protruding laminating edge and then cut the A4 page in half exactly in the middle - each gives 2 A5 index cards.
 Pages not to be laminated: master copy
 Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Experience with the decadal system
 Display and recognize numbers in the number range 10,000, additions in the number range 10,000 with and without a change of category, preliminary stage for the written addition
Possible uses: Use in free work, in individual work or in partner work
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
 A work rug or a work table, the number cards, the golden pearl material, colored pencils, pencils
How it works: The children work through the index cards one after the other. They add through with the help of the pearl material. The next level of abstraction is to place the number cards or write down the numbers and calculations. A copy template is available to the children. Here you can write down the bills you have made or "invent" new ones.
Self-control: The solutions and the intermediate results are on the back of the index cards.
Experiences, tips, tips: The contact with large numbers in connection with the material is usually not a problem. Even if these numbers are not material of the first school levels, the teachers should not be afraid to offer them to the children. This file is limited to numerical and quantitative representations and additions. Of course, the pearl material is also suitable for other types of calculations. The golden pearl material is therefore introduced relatively early on the first school level and is intended to make the transition to brand play, the next level of abstraction.
