Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Seasons, names of months and seasons, celebrations and events
Possible uses: Group and class work, birthday parties, projects related to the year and time (especially around the turn of the year)
Preparations: The annual cycle is the beginning of the didactic concept for circular time measurement and is derived directly from the work on the solar system. That is why it is laid out counterclockwise (in the northern hemisphere). (The earth moves counterclockwise around the sun!) A sun made of fabric, felt, wood, ... can also be placed in the middle.
How it works: At birthday parties, the birthday child walks with the globe in his hand once per year for each year of life. The pedagogue, the parents or the child tell stories from every year of life.
Self-control: A color code helps the children put on the annual cycle. A photo of the completed annual group can also be included as an aid.
Experiences, tips, tips: The birthday party can be expanded in many ways. For example, the birthday child can give one candle each year to another child, who then lights it after the end of the year and places it in the sun, or something similar.
For young people and adults, the annual cycle can be expanded with a wide variety of information relating to our or other cultural circles, e.g. B. zodiac signs, the Celtic tree circle etc.
The annual chain is a separate material that can be combined with the annual cycle. It consists of pearls, colored differently for each month, one pearl for each day. It is placed in a circle, possibly around the year, which should be planned in the size of the pearls. As with all chain work, time units are made countable and writable. In addition there are arrows on which the events of the year are labeled with pictures or words. The arrows are then placed on the corresponding beads. Such events can be: The days of the year, the days of the different religions in comparison, the beginning of the seasons, the birthdays of the children etc. ... (Notes from Saskia Haspel)
The 4 cards for the day / night conditions can be discussed and placed in the places of the circle where the seasons change.
