Brief descriptionThis is a euro arithmetic file. The exact description of the coins and banknotes, the history of money in general and that of the euro was therefore deliberately excluded. The main focus is to emphasize the cent to euro ratio.
scope50 index cards A5, 1 description, 12 pcs A5 cards for booklets, 8 pcs A4 worksheets
manualRecommended school level (s): 2nd - 4th grade
Manufacturing: Laminate the sheets (recommended film thickness: 90-125 microns). With the index cards: First cut off the overlapping laminating edge and then cut the A4 page in half exactly in the middle - each gives 2 A5 index cards.
Pages not to be laminated: master copies
Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Safe handling of money (euros and cents)
Possible uses: Use in free work, in individual work or in partner work
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
A work carpet or a work table, calculating money, writing things
The main focus is to emphasize the cent to euro ratio. The fact that "cents" play a role in almost all prices means that children need a good orientation in the number range 100. This should first be worked out with the classic working materials.
How it works: Coins and notes have to be changed constantly or added to certain amounts. The children are gradually familiarized with it as they work with the euro arithmetic file. Work cards call for corresponding arithmetic operations. Every card should be processed using calculation money!
Index cards with a green border each have a matching A5 template. These templates can be attached to the file and taken out by the children if necessary. However, they can also be prepared beforehand as a "booklet" that accompanies the work.
Self-control: Some of the solutions can be found on other (specified) index cards or on specially made solution cards. The copied, correctly filled-in work cards can also be offered as a control option.
Experiences, tips, tips: There is no calculation money attached to this file! You can get this very cheaply in the trade or as a download. I recommend using real coins!
Additional worksheets are available as free downloads on my website www.lernmaterial.at. A Euro calculation frame index (additions and subtractions with decimal numbers) is also available in the shop.
