 pages 40
leaves 34
Double sided Yes
Age 4-5, 5-6, 7-11
Brief description Laying cards for the geometric bodies; Photos, drawings and concept cards to assign
manual Recommended school level (s): Children's home and primary school
Manufacturing: All sheets should be laminated (recommended film thickness: 90-125 microns).
Cut and bind the 11 pages for the control booklet in A5 format. (First cut off the protruding lamination edge and then halve the A4 page exactly in the middle - each gives 2 A5 pages.)
Cut out the laying cards individually.
Pages not to be laminated: none
Pages or cards to be bound in a booklet: Pages 12-17
Content / curriculum reference: First experiences with the geometric bodies and their properties. Recognize their shapes in everyday life. Internalization of these bodies for complex geometry tasks.
Possible uses: Possible use in the context of topics or projects such as: geometry, body, ...
Use in free work, in individual work, in partner work or small group work.
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
A carpet and the geometric bodies.
How it works: The children get to know the concepts of the bodies and talk about their special features (rolls, tilts, both;). They then consolidate this knowledge by assigning term cards to picture cards and apply it by executing the orders on the order cards. They can also compare everyday shapes with those of geometric bodies.
Self-control: Self-control takes place via the information and control booklet. The matching body is printed on the back of the graphic cards. There is no self-regulation for the photo cards, since the solutions are naturally not clear (cause for discussion!)
Experiences, tips, tips: The "Geometric Bodies" are a material that can be used again and again from the children's home to the beginning of secondary school. The children build, print, tinker, assign, describe and calculate the bodies. The present material is designed so that it can be used for different ages. It is therefore advisable to make a selection in the children's home or in the 1st grade.
Spinning top game: The spinning top is rotated. A body can now be seen on the edge on which it comes to a standstill. The children look for the right one (in the room, under the graphic cards, under the photo cards, ... under the bodies). A memory can also be put together from the photo cards and the 10 small square cards of the body.
With a small software program, the children can get to know the geometric bodies better. This free download can be found at:
