 pages 22
leaves 11
Age 7-11
Brief description Compound words and explanations are assigned to each other. Clarification that the second word is the basic word (plant) and the first the definition word (room), thus using the example of the "house plant" the "room" determines the "plant" in more detail.
scope 44 compound words plus description of the word plus word cards of the corresponding categories, self-control on the back
Contributors Saskia Haspel, Christiane Salvenmoser
manual Recommended school level (s): 3rd - 5th grade
Manufacturing: Laminate all sheets (recommended film thickness: 90-125 microns). Then cut out the cards one by one.
Pages not to be laminated: none
Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Compound words, key words, meaningful reading
Possible uses: Use in free work, as individual or partner work
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
A felt tray or a carpet, stationery and paper (booklet)
Requirements: The children have already had experience with compositions (“material on the compositions”). You can assign the “determination questions” to the categories and vice versa
How it works: The children choose a color series. Compound words and explanations are assigned to each other. Clarification that the second word is the basic word (plant) and the first is the definition word (room), so using the example of the "house plant" the "room" determines the "plant" in more detail. The terms and explanations are now determined with the help of the question cards and assigned to the categories.
Example: "a fence made of wood" / "wooden fence"; - What determines the fence closer? It is determined by it
 what it's made of. So: question "from what" and thus category "material";
The same procedure is followed with the other series. The laying work is then written down
Self-control: Self-control takes place on the back of the cards.
Experiences, tips, tips: The material consists of four series, which differ in color. The pink series is intended as a "simple" variant. The green series may be a little trickier in some cases.
