manual Recommended Age (s): 8-13 years
Preparing the material: All of the cards are meant to be laminated (recommended laminate thickness: 90-125 micron).
The individual cards need to be cut out.
Sides not to be laminated: 1 template
Sides or cards to be bound into a booklet: none
Teaching content: The 4 rules, practice of writing equations
Possible Applications: Free time activity, individual work, pair work
Before you begin: To work with this material, the children require:
a desk, writing stationery, paper
Depending on the type of equation: an abacus, a checker board, and a long division set
How to use: This is an ideal source of equations for children who are already familiar with such material. They can either work through the material card by card, or select a specific difficulty level. The stars on each card correspond to the number of changes the equation requires.
Control of Error: The results of the equations are on the reverse of the cards.
Additional information: These cards were designed to be used with calculation materials.
Particular attention was given to the degrees of difficulty (the number of changes required for each equation). Even the number of beads to be laid, changed or exchanged was taken into account (especially for the equations, for which the long division set is required).
As is typical with Montessori material, the digits are color coded according to their value (units, tens, hundreds, thousands, etc.).
