Contributors Saskia Haspel, Christiane Salvenmoser
manual Scope: The material consists of 26 A4 pages. On it are the 26 letters of the alphabet and 26 corresponding motifs (each about A5 in size).
Recommended school level (s): Children's house, 1st grade
Manufacturing: Laminate all sheets (recommended film thickness: 90-125 microns).
The letters and pictures are cut out on the black edges (approx. A5). In this way, 26 loose letter cards and 26 loose picture cards are obtained.
Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Capital letters in block letters and assignment to pictures or sounds.
Possible uses: Use in free work, in individual work or partner work. The letter cards in the student-teacher discussion are particularly helpful. The material is well suited for clarification and for developing letters and sounds. In contrast to the ABC booklets, the children have loose cards available here that can be assigned to each other.
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
Possibly letter posters or letter booklets
How it works: The children introduce the letters to each other (or to an adult) and show which ones they already know or which are new to them.
You can place the letter cards in alphabetical order and assign the face cards. Likewise, the image motifs can be applied and the letters assigned. ABC booklets and ABC cards can be combined in partnership. For example, a child shows a picture (a letter) in the ABC booklet and another child gets the corresponding ABC card from the next room, for example.
Self-control: The ABC posters, the ABC poster or the ABC booklets are available for checking.
Experiences, tips, tips: Material to be used especially in the school entrance phase. The children can show which letters they can already name.
KIM games: A child puts on 5 letter cards and the matching motifs underneath. The other child remembers them and looks away while the first child exchanges 2 motifs. … What has changed? The difficulty can of course be increased.
Memory could also be played with the cards.
The ABC cards match the following materials (have the same motifs): ABC posters, ABC game, ABC booklet, ABC poster.
