Pages not to be laminated: none
Pages or cards bound in a booklet: none
Content / curriculum reference: Vocabulary expansion by introducing the terms: small, large, smaller, larger, smallest, largest, smallest, largest, smaller than, larger than,
thick, thin, thicker, thinner, thickest, thinnest, thickest, thinnest, thicker than, thinner than.
Forming rows, getting to know and assigning bodies and base areas,
Possible uses: Possible use in the context of subject areas or projects such as: geometry, geometric bodies, "all about adjective", creative handling of rows, ...
Use in free work, in individual work, in partner work or small group work. The material is also well suited to presentations.
Preparations: To work with this material, the children also need:
A work carpet, the material "Pink Tower and Brown Stairs", possibly a camera (see below)
How it works: With the word cards, terms such as: small, smaller, smallest, the largest cube, .... can be experienced, learned, consolidated, based on the specific sensory material. The parts of the tower (the staircase) can be assigned to the enclosed number cards in ascending or descending order. New rows with the tower, the stairs or in combination can be invented. The rows can be "documented" with the number cards.
Self-control: The material itself controls itself.
Experiences, tips, tips: Photos can be taken with the series invented by the children, in order to perhaps develop their own work register.
Idea: The photo with the tower / stair combination is on one side of the index card. The corresponding number sequence can be seen on the other side.
For work on a higher level of abstraction, the concrete materials are replaced by the picture cards (parcel, book). The loose base area cards and the A5 index cards with the base areas can also be used in this sense. The loose cards can be assigned to the bodies or the bodies can be placed on the A5 index cards.
