In a frame story "Dreams of Eratosthenes," famous mathematicians of antiquity are brought together in the Library of Alexandria – Eratosthenes, Pythagoras, and Euclid. The didactic comments provide detailed explanations of the Pythagorean theorem and the cathetus and height theorem of Euclid. The work with Montessori materials and the mathematical connections are demonstrated. Geographic and historical research is encouraged – the images of the mathematicians can be placed on the BC/AD timeline (2100 years BC and 2100 years AD). The children receive a good overview of the historical development of mathematics.
