Then he / she writes an addition to the child. For example EUR 2.50 + EUR 1.60 + EUR 0.50
The child places the respective amounts sorted by coins and unit (green, blue, red) on one level of the board. So 2.50 EUR on the first level. EUR 2 are in the green area and EUR 0.50 are in the red area.
Then all coins are pushed down to the wood-colored level. You can now swap there if necessary. In this example you can exchange two 50 cent coins for a 1 EUR coin. Then everything is added and the result is noted, if necessary.
For students who find it difficult to change to the next higher unit, you can only write down examples at the beginning where there is no need to change.
