Coins are small parts that can be swallowed, so this material may only be used under the supervision of trained persons.
Please note:
Montessori materials are NOT toys, but educational materials. Proper use requires appropriate training.
Montessori materials may contain small, rough, sharp, or other elements that could cause injury or damage if used improperly.
It may therefore only be used by children under the supervision of appropriately trained persons and in an appropriate environment.
The educator places a few coins in each subject, can also be game euro coins or paper print coins.
Then he / she writes an addition to the child. For example EUR 2.50 + EUR 1.60 + EUR 0.50
The child places the respective amounts sorted by coins and unit (green, blue, red) on one level of the board. So 2.50 EUR on the first level. 2x1 EUR are in the green area and 5x0.10 EUR are in the red area.
Then all coins are pushed down to the wood-colored level. You can now swap there if necessary. In this example you can exchange ten 10 cent coins for a 1 EUR coin. Then everything is added and the result is noted, if necessary.
For students who find it difficult to change to the next higher unit, you can only write down examples at the beginning where there is no need to change.
