Whenever a child is ready to start singing together, their interests and curiosity must be met. The child needs words to test his newly acquired skills, short texts in large, easily recognizable script.
Please note:
Montessori materials are NOT toys, but educational materials. Proper use requires appropriate training.
Montessori materials may contain small, rough, sharp, or other elements that could cause injury or damage if used improperly.
It may therefore only be used by children under the supervision of appropriately trained persons and in an appropriate environment.
Whenever a child is ready to start singing together, their interests and curiosity must be met. The child needs words to test his newly acquired skills, short texts in large, easily recognizable script. Reading, that is, understanding the meaning of what is written, should continue to be associated with pleasure and joy and should not overwhelm the child. Immediate experiences of success are also important so that the child is ready to continue the unbelievable effort of reading out new words.
The present small booklets meet these requirements. They were created in the daily work with the children in my first class. The first part contains 50 pages with four words each. All four words on a page have the same initial sound. The initials are ranked according to difficulty. The second part already contains groups of words, sentences, short texts. The child's task is to read a word (later: a line, a short text), that is, to understand it, and to make a small drawing as a sign. When it has worked through a page, it reads out the words or the text of the teacher. The reading books enable a completely individual work in reading lessons in the first and second class.
